New Orleans Saints Are Not Thinking Straight By Releasing Pierre Thomas

“Take two mil off of Brees’ salary!”
“Reorganize the QB contract!!!”
“The Saints are taking away all of Drew Brees’ weapons.  Time to look for a new QB.”
“I can’t...I’m literally grieving...I can’t with the Saints right now!  I didn’t even get a chance to make [Pierre] no gumbo!”  (sic)

These are just some of the reactions I have found across the Internet regarding the release of New Orleans Saints Running Back, Pierre Thomas.  And I, for one, completely agree*.

Drew Brees is heading into the 2015 season with a salary of $18.75 million.  For this kind of money, we should’ve had two more Super Bowl wins by now.  Da fuq are we paying this guy for?  Sure, he’s broken an astonishing amount of NFL records, generates nothing but good press for the City of New Orleans, and he is by far the best QB that New Orleans has ever seen, but come on, man!  What’s he done for us lately?

As quoted at the beginning of this post, “the Saints are taking away all of Brees’ weapons.”  What’s he going to do now, throw the football to a turkey?  Apparently that’s the direction in which the Saints are headed (and if by “turkey,” I mean some bum from Seattle or Atlanta, which I wouldn’t put past Payton to do.  Hell, while we’re at it, let’s just say fire Payton!).

Sure, the Saints have a salary cap, and frankly, Sean Payton needs to head in a new direction with the team and get serious, but didn’t he think of the fans?  The Who Dats, who head to the (Mercedes-Benz [cringe]) Superdome, rain or shine, who are always loyal to their team?  What would this release do to our fragile sense of self?  WHO ARE WE NOW???  ::looks around incredulously, points at random reader::  WHO DAT??!?!?!?!?!?

This offseason already has me shaking in my white shrimpin’ boots.  I tell you, I’m just wonderin’ what asinine move they’re gonna do next?

...and I never got to make Pierre no gumbo either.

*I totally don’t agree with anything I just wrote.  I love the Saints, and as much as I will miss PT, I certainly don’t think this is detrimental to the team, nor do I think Brees should ever be let go.
